Very cute sketch over at Sketchy Thursdays this week, and I almost didn't make it. :)

A banner I am super happy with! Love how it turned out!

I used some random cardstock for the background blue piece and white matting for the pictures. The purple cardstock behind the pictures is from Crate Paper (Katlin collection, I believe). The banner and title are cut from a sheet from Echo Park's Summer Days - I used the Cricut to cut them out. Glitter brads are from Making Memories. Twine is from a cute Etsy shop that's apparently closed now.

Something to do with rub-ons, besides scrapbooking.

I don't know why I never thought of this before. Forgive me for posting a picture of my toes (I hate feet) but they are pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself! And I do. :)

I did my own glitter toes, then waited three years for them to dry completely. Then I just cut out the design I wanted, rubbed them on, and applied a top coat. They are holding up well!

LO for Sketchy Thursdays - 6/23/2011

It was my first time trying the stitching technique, which I've wanted to try for a really long time. It didn't go so well...

I was using a little teeny sewing machine made for scrapbooking but it kept either not looping at the bottom, making the string pull completely out, or just plain not giving it string. I tried to adjust the pressure but nothing helped. Oh well. I've been meaning to scrap these pictures forever, had the paper set aside and everything. I'm glad I finally got to them!

Father's Day Gifts

I couldn't think of anything to do for Father's Day so I gave in to the easy idea - cash. I didn't just want to hand them money though, so this is what I threw together:

I measured how wide and long the bar is and cut down some lighter weight cardstock (5"x5" is what size I cut the paper to) then cut the slits where I wanted them. Then I added the "Happy Father's Day" and the cash, and then wrapped around the bar and glued the one flap to the other flap.

Fast, easy, and cuter than just handing them some money. Easy peasy!

LO for Sketchy Thursdays - 6/16/11

This is my entry for Sketchy Thursdays. I wasn't really feeling anything for this sketch, but finally decided I just needed to do something. So here it is. I don't love it, but it is what it is.

(I am convinced this blog hates me. My layout pictures are always off and I can't fix them, no matter how hard I try. Grr.)

A close-up of the main part of the layout. I wanted to go with a collage sort of feel to it and that definitely came across. It just looks as childish as a collage. :S

And the square edging. My first time using mists. I cut out a square border with my Cricut, then laid it down on my background and misted the squares.

And in case anyone never told you, mists are MESSY and they WILL get all over the place if you aren't careful. Including your carpet if you're like me and scrap on the floor. Just another excuse for me to get new carpet in here. :)

Do you know what this is?

Nope, it's not just twine. It's not just twine and two adorable little paper bags, either. It's ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES! Oh, I do love twine. I just hope I got enough. I bought it from this lovely Etsy shop.

Now, to USE it will be the trick. I tend to hold on to things I love so much because I'm afraid of running out. Probably the reason I have over 10,000 sheets of paper in my possession. But it's ALL SO PRETTY! (Say it out loud, in the whiniest voice possible.)

My LO for Sketchy Thursdays

I thought participating in a sketch-based challenge might help me get going on my scrapbooking. I found Sketchy Thursdays and love their sketches, and their design team, so it seems like a perfect fit!

Here's my entry for this week's challenge:

The first was for my little sister and BFF:

I love the concept but don't love the actual turnout of the card. I will give this a shot again and see if I can get it to turn out on paper like it looks in my head.

I cut the pendants out by hand and added letter stickers, then used pop-up dots to lay each down individually. Then I ran the string through.

Improvement ideas:
twine instead of string (ordered and on its way)
more uniform pendants (I thought them being different sizes would add to the look but I don't like it)
make the pendants look like they are actually hanging instead of crazily flying in the wind

Then was this card for my step-daughter:

I don't like it at all. I started with the cupcakes, which is a cute idea, but the spacing is all off and I'm not sure I love it as much as I did when it was in my head. It feels really plain and boring, even with the dimension and varied colors.

I don't know what I'd do to improve on this. Meh.

I went back and deleted pretty much every old post on this blog, save for one with the cutest paw print cookie ever. I just wanted to clean things up a bit, and all of those posts were nonsense anyway. I'm sorry if I've hurt any of your feelings; it just needed to be done.

I'm devoting myself to keeping up on everything in my life - the cooking, the cleaning, and my projects. Both my boutique store and my scrapbook store, and their blogs. Plus my personal blog. And my husband's company. It sounds like a lot.

But I can do it.

I'm trying to do more scrapbooking and crafting in general as it's a huge stress reliever, and I think this blog would be the perfect place for me to post projects I'm working on, or just random crafty stuff. Hopefully it doesn't kill me in the process. So, if there's anyone out there, stick around! More is to come.

Also, the Etsy shop is full of fun stuff for cheap, so check it out!

Kitty Cookies

Husband has been on a cookie kick lately so I've been making a lot of cookies. Yesterday was sugar cookie day. Being the curious cat that he is, Turbo decided to jump up on the counter to investigate what was going on. He just happened to jump up right where the cookies were cooling, and put his own little uniqueness into the cookie. I didn't realize it had happened until way later when I was frosting them, and had to take a picture!

That's one of the most perfect paw prints I've ever seen from a cat, and it is in a cookie! How cute is that?!

Side note: if any of you out there have a good sugar cookie recipe, you should e-mail it to me. The ones last night turned out flat as pancakes, and I just wanted big fluffy sugar cookies. Although I must admit, I cheated with these ones. I had a packet thing that I just added an egg and butter to. So, if you have a good sugar cookie recipe from scratch that will give me fluffy sugar cookies, pass it along!
